The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
