The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for those on the Right, 38
