The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
