The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
