The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 on lavish couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
