The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And shade extended 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
