The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
