The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
