The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
