The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
