The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And extended shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
