The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
