The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
