The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
