The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
