The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
