The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
