A company of the former peoples 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
