A company of the former peoples 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 But those of the left hand -- how those of the left hand -- 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 That, "We have indeed been penalised!" 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Therefore proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
