▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A crowd of earlier generations 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 will indeed be gathered together at a fixed time on an appointed Day. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 "We are ruined, 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
