Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Blessed be He in whose hand is the Kingdom -- He is powerful over everything -- 1 Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving, 2 [And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks? 3 Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out. 4 And indeed, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with lights, and have made them the object of futile guesses for the evil ones [from among men]: and for them have We readied suffering through a blazing flame 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there awaits the punishment of Gehenna (Hell) an evil arrival! 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath even as it blazes forth, 7 as though it will burst with rage. Every time a multitude is cast into it, its keepers will ask them: “Did no warner come to you?” 8 They will reply: "Yea, a warner did indeed come unto us, but we gave him the lie and said, 'Never has God sent down anything [by way of revelation]! You [self-styled warners] are but lost in a great delusion!"' 9 They will say: "If we had listened and been wise, we would not have been among the inmates of Hell." 10 So now they admit their sins! Therefore accursed be the people of hell! 11 Lo! those who fear their Lord in secret, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward. 12 And conceal your word or manifest it; surely He is Cognizant of what is in the hearts. 13 Shall He who has created (all things) not know? He is the Subtle, the Aware. 14
