Indeed for the pious, with their Lord, are Gardens of Serenity. 34 Should We treat those who submit and obey in the same way as those who are culpable? 35 What is the matter with you? How could you judge this to be so? 36 Or have you a Book in which you read 37 that you will be granted whatever you choose? 38 Or you have oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection that yours will be what you judge. 39 (Muhammad), ask which of them can guarantee that on the Day of Judgment. 40 Or have they other partners [besides God]? Let them bring forth their other partners, if what they say be true. 41 Upon the day when the leg shall be bared, and they shall be summoned to bow themselves, but they cannot; 42 Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused). 43 Hence, leave Me alone with such as give the lie to this tiding. We shall bring them low, step by step, without their perceiving how it has come about: 44 Yet I bear with them, for lo! My scheme is firm. 45 Do you ask for any compensation from them that they are burdened with want? 46 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 47 Exercise patience until the promise of your Lord (to punish the unbelievers) comes true. Do not be like Jonah (who left his people without the permission of God; he wanted them to be punished immediately), 48 Had it not been for a favour from his Lord he would have been cast blame-worthy on a barren plain. 49 But his Lord had chosen him, and He placed him among the righteous. 50 But the unbelievers would like to stare you out of balance when they hear the warning, and say: "Surely he is possessed;" 51 [Be patient:] for this is nought else but a reminder [from God] to all mankind. 52
