Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In high empyrean 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and had not known my account. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
