Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
