Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a lofty Garden 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 And not known my account! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
