Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
