Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in an exalted garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
