Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
