Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
