Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in an exalted garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 And not known my account! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
