Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
