Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
