But no; I swear by what you see, 38 And that which you do not see. 39 most surely, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 40 and is not - however little you may [be prepared to] believe it - the word of a poet; 41 Nor is it the word of a soothsayer (or a foreteller), little is that you remember! 42 A sending down from the Lord of all Being. 43 And if he [i.e., the Prophets] had forged this Discourse and thereafter ascribed it to Us, 44 We would have seized him by his right hand, 45 And then severed his life-vein. 46 and none of you could have held Us off from him. 47 And verily, this [Qur'an] is a reminder to all the God-conscious! 48 And behold, well do We know that among you are such as will give the lie to it: 49 And most surely it is a great grief to the unbelievers. 50 yet indeed it is the truth of certainty. 51 So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 52
