The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall 1 which will inevitably seize the disbelievers. 2 (A punishment) from Allah, the Owner of the Elevated Passages. 3 by which the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him in one Day which will last for fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 they see it as being far off; 6 but, We see it as near! 7 The day the sky becomes like molten brass, 8 and the mountains become like wool, 9 And no friend inquires after friend 10 although they shall be within sight of one another. The guilty one would fain ransom himself from the torment of that Day by offering his children, 11 His wife and his brother, 12 his kinsmen who gave him refuge (from hardship) 13 And all, all that is on earth,- so it could deliver him: 14 By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell!- 15 Eager to roast; 16 It calls out to him who reverted and turned away. 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 Except those devoted to Salat (prayers) 22 Those who remain steadfast to their prayer; 23 And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged 24 For the beggar and the destitute. 25 and those who believe in the Day of Judgement 26 And those who fear the punishment of their Lord. 27 Verily the torment of their Lord is not a thing to feel secure from. 28 and those who guard their private parts, 29 except from their spouses and those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock], for which they incur no blame -- 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 And those who fulfil their trusts and covenants, 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 and who observe their prayers. 34 They will be in gardens, honored. 35
