The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A questioner asked about a Penalty to befall- 1 Upon the disbelievers – the punishment that none can avert. 2 From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit mount up, in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, 6 But We see it very near. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 and the mountains become like wool, 9 No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend 10 Though they shall be made to see one another. Fain would the guilty ransom himself from the torment of that Day by his children. 11 His wife and his brother, 12 And the nearest of his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, 13 and of whoever [else] lives on earth, all of them - so that he could but save himself. 14 By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell! 15 Eager to roast; 16 It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 And collected [wealth] and hoarded. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 If evil befalls him he is perturbed; 20 and tight-fisted when good fortune visits him, 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 Who are constant at their worship 23 And those in whose wealth there is a known right, 24 for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester, 25 And those who accept the truth of the judgment day 26 And those who fear the torment of their Lord, 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 except from their wives and what their right hands own, for these they are not blameworthy. 30 But those who seek more than this will be transgressors; 31 and who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges: 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 and are steadfast in their prayers. 34 These will dwell in Gardens, honoured. 35
