Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God, 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
