Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite until an appointed term. Indeed when Allah's appointed term comes, it cannot be deferred; if you only knew!” 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
