Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
