Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
