Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 That ye may thread the valley-ways thereof. 20
