Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
