Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.'
