Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 What is amiss with you that you do not look forward to the majesty of Allah 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
