Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 ‘And we reached the sky, so we found it strongly guarded and filled with comets.’ 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 Now that we have listened to the guidance, we believe in it. Whoever believes in his Lord does not need to fear loss or oppression. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 And as to the deviators, they are fuel of hell: 15 [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
