Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 Yet [it has always happened] that certain kinds of humans would seek refuge with certain kinds of [such] invisible forces: but these only increased their confusion 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 And so we do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 Some of us are obedient while others are wrongdoers; it is the obedient who have found the right path, 14 And as for the Qasitun (disbelievers who deviated from the Right Path), they shall be firewood for Hell, 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. 17 ‘And that the mosques are for Allah only therefore do not worship anyone along with Allah.’ 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
