Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad SAW): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Quran). They said: 'Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Quran)! 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames. 8 ‘And that we sometimes used to sit in some places in the sky, to listen; so whoever now listens finds a fiery comet waiting for him.’ 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 ‘And as for the unjust they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 Do not prostrate before anyone other than Him. When the servant of God (Muhammad) preached (his message) the jinn would all crowd around him. 19
