Jinns (Al-Jinn)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 that guides to the Right Path. We believe in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord. 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 ‘And we are certain that we cannot defeat Allah in the earth, nor can we run out of His grasp.’ 12 So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam – it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 ‘And that when Allah’s bondman stood up to worship Him, the jinns had almost crowded upon him.’” 19
