Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 2 ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme – He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ 3 And that the foolish one among us used to speak concerning Allah an atrocious lie. 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 For some of us are upright and some otherwise: Surely we follow different ways. 11 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 Mosques belong to Allah, so do not call to anyone else, other than Allah. 18 (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation). 19
