Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 that guides to the Right Path. We believe in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord. 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 And lo! we had supposed that humankind and jinn would not speak a lie concerning Allah - 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 Some of us are righteous, while others are not; we follow divergent paths. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
