Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
